There's a CL posting local to me for a 1982 Yamaha XS1100 Maxim. It looks pretty clean in the pics, but it has pods in place of the air box.

Any one know if the air box can be replaced with completely tearing it apart? For that matter are the air boxes to be found anywhere?

    OK,
After a very small amount of research it turns out that the bike in question is absolutely an XJ1100 not an XS1100. I was pretty sure the Maxims were all XJs but I've been wrong before. I'm gong to repost this in the XJ tech chat forum. If the mods weant to delete this please do.

All the Maxim 1100's were designated as XJ series.
