1985 Thermostat

    So my bike runs good, but seemed to run warmer than it should....I think I know the answer I will get but putting it out there anyway. Should I replace my original thermostat? Ha ha. I took it out today and put it in some boiling water, here is how far it opened. Yeah I know that may not mean much....I just better spend the $50.

    If it's a 190° stat it's working fine.

    Maybe you should consider getting the rad flushed. I know that after many years a bunch of crud had built up in the bottom and made my bike run warm.
    Just a thought, you are talking about a 750 Maxim X eh!
    It's just that you don't say what bike it's off.

    Yes it is my one and only '85 Maxim X I have had since '88 (should have said that). That is a good suggestion actually....an yes it is a 180 F thermostat
