400 maxim, possible project

    New to the forum and was curious to know about the 400 maxim. I found one that I am interested in but do not know much about the bikes. I have an rd 350 and am looking to buy another bike to build a bobber. I have seen these made into bobbers and they look pretty cool. Not sure what the mechanical reliability is with them though. Any thoughts from the group? I do not want to get myself into a project that winds up being a headache and waste of time. I have heard some good things about them but just want to hear everyone elses opinion.

    there is not to many problems with them. I wouldnt buy one with high miles. rebuilds are no where even close like your rd. The reason i said i wouldnt buy one with a bunch of miles is because its a small motor freeway speeds are much harder on it then the bigger bikes. You will notice it spins a lot more rpm then your rd does. Will be a fun first build if the price is right . I think you would probably like the 650-750 better but the 400 will be fun but you won't have the excitement of the rd

    thanks for the info.

    I know the rd is going to be fun, just need to get it finished. the asking price is 500 on the maxim. not sure of the mileage. but i may just use the money to complete the rd and then search for another after...just a bit perplexed right now...always want something new to mess with.
