This is a functional replacement for the airbox cover for all flavors of XJ650.

Most of the originals of these either have the front tab missing or hanging by a thread.

This is 4mm lower profile than the original, so the aftermarket fusebox from xj4ever will fit under a Maxim seat.

There are several versions, depending on your needs. You will have to figure out how to print considering weaknesses in layer lines and whatnot.

The first major option is either a complete unit or a two piece unit - the main cover and tab printed separately and glued together.

I had the best luck with the two piece option - I could print the main cover upside down and get a nice texture from the print sheet and good strength for putting on the warped airbox, and print the tab sideways so that it was strong in the direction of the tab.

Then I made 3 different variants of each of those:
    1. No holes for a fusebox
    2. Holes for a fusebox to use the screws that come with the kit
    3. Holes for M5 threaded inserts to attach the fusebox (inserts need to be glued in place)

In the pictures below I used the threaded inserts version and a couple of snazzy black M5 socket head screws.

See zip file for STL and Fusion archive files.

    Nice! While your there...

A 2 piece airbox would be neat!
Unscrew it and slide the carbs out still attached to the front part.

    You know you want to!

Is that an OEM fuse panel, or where can I get one?

That is the fusebox upgrade/replacement kit available from @chacal at xj4ever.

A multi-piece airbox would be pretty slick. I think the tricky part would be making sure that you don't screw up the airflow and make the carbs angry.

A bit of a redesign for sure. Still it'd be nifty!

Would be pretty cool. Could do all sorts of things as far as using different filters and whatnot.

I'm not going to attempt until I get a better scanner and a larger printer!
