650 Seca fork questions

    Hi Folks,
    New to the forum.
    I bought my 650 Seca new in 1982.
    Was my only daily transportation for several years (when I was a heck of a lot younger) survived a couple of crashes, but it's still a beautiful bike.
    Stock pipes got pretty beat up so it got a Yoshimura 4into1, the OEM replacements, even back then, were crazy expensive and it's painted Suzuki 1983 GS1100 midnite blue (don't hate me) but, not butchered in any way.
    Been mothballed for close to thirty years and I'm in the process of resurrecting it from the dead.
    Sorry about the rambling....my question:
    Does anyone know of any adjustable preload fork caps?
    I have air caps on there now, but would rather be able to adjust the spring preload, as adding air preassure causes a little stiction.
    Also, I put Progressive springs in it way back then and it required I make a spacer out of PVC, but I don't think it was quite long enough.
    Anybody have a set of instructions handy that could look that up for me?
    One more question, what is a good, not too crazy expensive adjustable shock to use out back? I have some brand new Progressives, but like the look of some piggyback reservoirs with adjustable dampening (can't afford Ohlins) anybody have any experience with some of the ones I've seen on eBay, that go for about $150-200?

    I just went through this with Racetech springs. They suggested spacers sized for a preload of 20 mm (3/4") but that is a starting point. Very easy to cut longer or shorter spacers and settle with whatever you like best. With a 10Wt fork oil and the correct preload you shouldn't need to mess with air pressures as they usually don't hold anyway.
    Dirt bikes have them but they are there just to relieve any pressure that might build up.

    I would expect those Progressives you have to out perform any Chinese shit from eBay.
    Also be aware that your hinged seat will not open if you have reservoir shocks. The cowling attached to the seat will hit the reservoir if it is positioned to the rear and prevent the seat from tilting.
    You can flip the shock around so the reservoir is before the shock body but then you need to trim the side cover. This is doable and something I did myself, you just need to be aware of this.

    Did I read somewhere someone cut one of those cheap remote res shocks up, and the reservoir was just for show? Or was I dreaming?
