Just that. Looking for the big 8" light for a project bike. Dented or rusty is OK. Cheap is best.

You won't find that for cheap. You're gonna be looking around $350.00

    Hamster,

I have a spare one. Like hogfiddles said, they are hard to come by so there is no cheap option. It took me over 2 years to find a spare one. PM me if you are interested with your email so I can send you some pictures

Always worth tossin' a line. Never know what you'll catch. Actually, I would like any cheap, side-mount, round, 8" headlight. Seca is just one of several out there. It's going on a V-strom based mongrel. I don't care much what it looks like.

Yeah, I have stumbled right into pretty good deals for all the parts for this build. But the headlight and a new lens/cover for the gauges have been tough. And I might actually get around to the front end pretty quick here. Probably going with a $40 ebay universal 7" if I don't get lucky soon. Check out the old headlights:

Is that about the pix? A nearby road failed to negotiate my friend Jay at a little shy of 100mph. There were, shall we say, extenuating circumstances. The front end got stuffed hard, bike went end over end. Much is bent and broken. Some is still out there on the road side I assume. He walked away (really!) but says he's done riding and I can fix it if I want to. I want to. The price is right and I can just build it any old way without a lot of concern for looks or convention. It is getting a lift kit and a naked rebuild. All about utility and capacity for some extra-pavement diversion. I am exploring riding it to Prudhoe Bay summer of '16. '04 V-strom 650 with just a hint of DR650. It's coming right along.

Well, first ? is all of a sudden going to 7" when you also said that there's several other bikes out there that take the 8".....why not get your 8" light then? Second was the pics of a wadded up bike, didn't realize this is the build you're working on. Now, ? is going to be--are you sure the frame isn't jacked? If it took that hard of a hit in the front, and the bike went end over end, I'll be highly surprised if the frame isn't bent at all. If it is, you're asking for trouble if you use it.

Watching out for your safety here......

I'm still holding out for the 8". It'll just look right. I will find one. Hella makes a nice looking 8" driving light for $110. Could use that, tho it's out of the budget. I stripped it to the main frame and engine. Did a few string tests, sighted all over, cleaned it sterile to look for damage. I think it's all good. The front end suffered badly but I think it checks out, even the tank is spotless. It, and Jay, tumbled in a vast blackberry bramble in a low, wet area for a kinder gentler landing. No major investments in it, save elbow grease, til a test ride also checks out. Thanks for the concern tho. IMG_8288.JPG

650 turbo light is completely different than the 650rj (non-turbo) headlight

Thanks Brad but I'm good on the light. Funny timing for this to get resurrected. I got the notice on my last day of a 30 day, 8116 mile trip on that cheapish 8" headlight ( with a motorcycle installed on it). Ended up using KC HiLites #1811 dune buggy headlight. DOT legal, H4, lexan lens, stainless bucket, bright, nice euro sort of pattern, $140. Very pleased with it. Over 1000 miles were gravel in northern Alaska and Yukon. The light is fine. So's the abomination it's bolted to. Not an XJ. It's an 04 V-Strom 650 with some DR650 front bits and some ABS plastic sheet from the hardware store. I ain't sayin' she's pretty but I just had a hell of a ride with no lip from this beast.
