I have a wal-mart brand battery (can't remember the model) in the bike and last saturday had to jump start it to get going, well I stopped at the bank and got back on and it was very low again, never has seemed to have enough capacity for more than one or two cranks, I had parked uphill in the few available spots and couldnot push start it. s|So I take off on foot to the autozone about a half mile down the street to get a new one. The pimply faced kid looked it up on his computer and handed me a box off the shelf which I opened and filled with acid, and used their charger for 30 mins. anyways after the trek back toting a 20# battery, it wouldn't fit in the box, (too thick to go between the frame and box) luckily after I put the old one back in I was able to jump it off enough with the new battery using a screwdriver they loaned me and rode back to the store with the new one in my lap. Anyways after looking at all the other batteries they had in stock, we couldn't find one thin enough, so he gave me a refund and I was able to bump start it. If that wasn't enough the damn throttle cable snapped as soon as I neared the parking lot exit, so I rolled it to a unused spot and sat down in the shade, (it's 97 here with about 85% humidity) contemplating if I should set it on fire or not....as luck would have it a friend came by to get his car washed and he gave me a ride to my house so I could bring my truck and trailer back to get the thing. I want to know what brand/model battery you folks reccomend that has plenty of cranking (not a Neverstart from walmart) and fits in the seca 750. thanks for reading my rant, I feel better.

Mine's got a 14L-A2, which seems to be what's called for from the manual and shown on the sticker inside the side panel. Positive terminal on the right.

The battery that came with the bike when I got it, though, was a bit smaller than the 14L and had + on the left. It seemed to be easier to hook it up that way than the "right" way that it's hooked up now.

I'd recommend you go to Batteries Plus, if there's one near you. They carry at least half a dozen batteries that will fit these bikes (most offer the choice of left or right for the positive terminal), and their prices are really pretty good.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Hey Redfire, I carry the AGM (sealed) hi-po batteries in stock, correct size for your bike, these are real motorcycle batteries, not lawn-n-garden tractor batteries, drop me a note.......

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
    same here...

it was a motorcycle battery and when i got my new one, (interstate from a motorcycle shop) i thought uh oh, ive got the wrong one...

when i checked it in the manual and under the side cover, i found it had the wrong one in prior and that my new battery was the correct battery...

check with Chacal or go to a motorcycle shop. they can get you a battery for your 'old' bike...

I'd still go with Batteries Plus over the bike shop. They even had, IIRC, two different models of AGM in this size. One had a three year warranty and something like 140CCA. And the prices really were good.

I find that Walmart batteries last 1 year and Autozone batteries last 2 years. I'll buy a good one the next time.

I'm running an EverStart (wallyworld brand) battery in my Seca - ES14L-A2. It's been in service about 2.5 years, and has not failed me yet. I keep it fully charged and the electrolyte topped off... And I don't exactly baby my bike.

I just replaced my battery yesterday. I looked at Walmarts batteries, which were rediculously cheap ($35) but were pretty much the same as stock. I kinda thought about looking into the sealed version (spendy) I ended up out at the Fleet Farm store and got one someone had purchased and returned (wrong size) so I got it at a discounted price of $57!! Can't beat that. It's been tested and came with the full 1 year warranty, so I bought it. It came charged and ready to install. 220 CCA!! It spins the engine over like never before and starts the bike instantly. What a difference. It can be installed laying down, upside down, what ever. It is completely sealed with no vent hose. Looks like I got a fairly good deal.
I am going to switch to a sealed AGM battery in my other bike when the time comes. They are supposed to have less drain while sitting for long periods and charge faster that conventional batteries too.
You may want to consider looking into one of these if you plan to keep your bike for a long time. Just a thought. >PD<
