I've did some searching here for info for replacing the remote, cable operated front brake master cylinder (it's almost a pain in the a$$ just to SAY it!!) I am going with a handlebar mounted master cylinder and new lines (preferably braided steel)
SO, I need to know if there is a direct replacement master cylinder that works with the dual disc calipers and has the stop switch in it? And what to do about the starter switch, kill switch housing? I will lose the old one when I get rid of my cable system.
I'm thinking one could just get the electrical controls off the same bike as the master cylinder and rewire them into my bike (I don't mind rewiring things, so that's not an issue.
One from a later model sport bike with dual calipers maybe? Which one works the best? Who's done it and how much better is it ( I assume it has to be better - can't get any worse!) Any info will be greatly appreciated. PD

the box at the junkyard said r6 yamaha but the man there said don't bet on it. looking at pics on ebay i think a older gsxr.
you can see where i cut off the old cable mount, switch was in it, adjustable lever is nice
i never used the original setup but it's two fingers now :)

My bike has 650 turbo forks on it, hence a dual disc front end. When I got it, it had a ninja master cylinder on it. Not sure what year. It works great esp with the r6 caliper and stainless lines upgrade I did. By stop switch do you mean a break light switch? If so mine mounts to the underside of the MC housing and is triggered by a tab on the lever being pulled away from it. Works like a charm! Not sure about your controls though.

    Thanks guys!
I see where to cut off the cable control now. Looks easy enough. I guess I'll go shop for a master cylinder now. The salvage yards are 3 ft. deep with snow around here, so it looks like ebay for now. PD

i picked up an fj1200 cylinder off of ebay last week,

careful not to buy any knock off brembo or no name reproduction cylinders, they look great and may work good but rebuild kits are non existant

Schnarr, Ya, I see those Bembo reproductions. I know better than to fall for that. And like you say, good luck at finding a rebuild kit. N\
No, I'm just going to get a good used one that's made for dual discs brakes. It looks like I have a good bunch to choose from too. It would be nice to get one from a Yamaha, so the lever matches my clutch lever, but not a big issue.

FJ, FZR, Bandit 12, GSX14, most GS's and GPZ's all have built in reservoir M/C's and are twin disc. They all bolt straight up and have their own built-in brake light switches. There's probably more out there too

I've got an FZR on my 750, and a Suzuki switch block:

    I see that.
There are so many choices on ebay, I don't know where to start. Even the master cylinders from four wheelers would work as most bigger ones have dual discs in the front now. I don't think I'll have a problem with the transformation at all.

I like the sound of better brakes but I dumped my first bike using the front and got hurt pretty bad. Since then I rarely use the front and I know the reason.
If the front stops turning the forks stop steering. Bicycle physics. Being an old dog I guess I've just lost the nads for a hard stopping front brake.
