Hello People! I have been working on restoring an '81 Midnight 650 to (and possibly beyond) it's former glory. I stripped all the parts off the frame, sandblasted and painted almost everything, and am almost done reinstalling everything. There is also a small list of upgrades including the air adjustable front forks of an '83 750 and the dual disc brakes that went with it. The hand controls, electronic tach, and wire bundles are also from an '83.

The biggest upgrade is the upper end of the 750 YICS motor was transplanted onto the lower half of the 650 motor. The crankshafts were also slightly different, so those needed to be switched around.

I also picked up a 4-1 exhaust (possibly MAC) from a friend to replace my old, rusty pipes. I know the carbs need to be worked on after all this, so my friend bored out the jets and will hopefully have it running tomorrow. We have a carb synchronizer and Colortune plug, so tuning it in shouldn't be too difficult.

I won't have all the painting done till later this summer, so it won't be fully prettied up till then. Does anyone know of a paint that is fairly resistant to gas? I don't want my tank to be wiped clean the first time I fill up.

I will add some pics as soon as I figure out how..
