So I got a 7" headlight to replace the square one that a PO put on my 650R when I bought it. Not the 8" it came with, but still better than a square light that shines at the moon.

Did a preliminary mounting, testing of the light and everything works/aims fine.
    Couple of questions though:

    A. Does anybody have a pic of the wiring inside the shell? They hacked the crap out of the square light to get it to fit and it cut into some of the wiring. Got the wiring fixed but without something to go on I don't know what the inside of the bucket is supposed to look like. I just have the wires pushed back out of the way on the outside for now, but would like to route them the right way so the connections would be more waterproof.

    Which leads me to:
    B. The light is from a 1981 XJ550H. It has the top hole for the headlight wire (I'm guessing) and the two side holes for the wiring harness. Is there somewhere that I can get rubber grommets for the holes to keep water out, or if not, anything I can use to make some?

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

chacal (XJ4Ever) carries giant rubber grommets for all three holes. I'm going to do a "photo-thingie" on them shortly, just haven't got all the pictures taken.

PM me with your email address and I can send you the cable routing diagrams from the 650 Seca assembly manual so you know exactly which "bundle" is intended to go through which hole.

As for wiring inside the shell, I always "train" mine to lay in nice bundles around the perimeter of the shell, allowing room for the slightly "chubbier" rear of the halogen reflector.

Thanks Fitz, guess I didn't see them on chacal's catalog, I'll have to check a little more closely.

    PM sent

They may not be in his main catalog. They're a "new item" I think. He might have them listed under "new arrivals" just send him a PM.

My Norton came with them; never understood why the Yammies didn't. I think they're a great idea, and a nice "finishing touch."

I found 'em, page 2 of the main catalog. I overlooked them, plain and simple.

I just assumed that if there was a big gapping hole in an electrical part that the manufacturer would have put the grommets in there. As they say, you should never assume....

Emails sent with some good info, have fun.

Did you check my gallery? Look at the turn signals I have on my black bike; they're "Yamaha pattern" aftermarket signals, in the same style they use on the FJ/FZ/Radian, and on the current XJR1300 (available elsewhere in the world.)

Len carries them; I got them through him and it became a "trend." I like the size and shape; I plan to use them on my 650 Seca also.
