In an attempt to fix my turn signals my bike won't do anything with the starter switch on the bars. I wiggled the wire and it cranked over, so I replaced the right side switch and still nothing. If I jump the solenoid it'll crank but not start. The only 2 things the diagram the control the solenoid from the switch is the relay under the TCI box and diode block. I just need some advice in testing points of those parts and or a point in the right direction on where to test for 12V and or ground.

With the 1981 650 the starter switch is grounded on one side through the handle bars, so you need the control mounted and the bars grounded to the frame.

If you ground the L/W wire that goes to the starter switch the starter should engage, but only if the starter cutoff relay is engaged, which should happen if the bike is in neutral or if the clutch is pulled in.
