So I have a 1982 maxim 750. I had originally planned to build a kind of chopperish cruiser, but my better side won out and I am going the cafe racer route. Today I ordered a cafe seat, risers for a seca 750 same year (because I have the ugly two piece handle bars, nonsense) turn signals, a new 6.5 round Amber headlight ( it currently has the two square headlights) will need to do a little bending to the light mounts I'm sure, and I'm taking off the mufflers today too. My next step I am going to move to once all this is installed, is I want a more cafe racer like tank. Will a seca 750 tank from the same year bike mount and bolt right into my maxim or will I have to do modifications to the mounting bungs? I want to leave as much original parts as I can on the bike intact if possible. If a seca tank won't work does anyone know of any options for getting a cafe racer style tank that can bolt right up to my maxim??? Lemme know what you know y'all, thank you!!
