I was wondering if the turnsignals for the back are identical to the front, of the area's that I was looking to order some new parts from, they have two different numbers for them. If there I dentical, I would like to place my front ones on the back of the bike, the back ones are rusted inside and I wont need the front ones due to a windjammer fairing being placed back on my bike next month.

If they are the same arrangement as the '81, no problem. They are the same save that the front bayonet fitting is for a 1157 bulb whereas the rear is set up for the single filament 1156. Think of it as an upgrade if you want running lights on the rear (good thing for increased visibility). All you need to do to capitalize on this is run an additional wire from the running supply wire back to the rear (if this doesn't make sense, let me know, I'll spell it out for ya).

They are on my 1982 xj750rh seca.
I replaced two broken signals housings on mine, the black rectangular types. I bought two replacements off ebay and just changed parts around to make them work. The bulb sockets with wire, and the mounting posts from my old units swapped over with no problems, and now I have spare reflectors.

Good point Nick! Dang, I'm getting put in my place. I swapped out the round units for rectangular ones off of an 86' XT125. Bolted right up and they take a lot of abuse without snapping.

81's didn't come with running lights in the front - in stock form they use 1156's in all 4 corners. Several of us have modified the fronts to be running lights though - the circuit's there in the headlight bucket, it's just unused.

Oh - and in most places it's illegal to have the rear turn signals as running lights unless they're coloured RED.

you can use either the round signals or the rectangular ones...

Wow! Did not know the legal tidbit. Never ran across it before! Must have scored a machine that had the mod done to it, mine have the dual filament.

Guess I get to throw the only anomaly in the batch. On the 1983 XJ 750K the front turn signals are single wire and the back are dual.
