Hi everyone. I'm not sure if I'm aloud to do this but I have another thread on here entitled "1982 SECA 750 POPPING SOUND". Even though I got a lot of excellent advice. That title is not really describing my problem. So if you are reading this could you please view my other thread?
Or if you know how I could change the title of my other thread, that would be good too.

Carolyn, the ability to change and edit threads is given to supporting members of the forum (I am not one, so I am in the same boat as you).

No need to change the title anyway. Just keep posting in your previous thread and it will pop up on the new posts page. We'll all see it and can kep up to date on the bike as we read the posts. Starting a new thread will cause things that have already been discussed/ tried to be missed.

Thanks everyone. My bike is fixed now. The problem was a dirty/corroded connection at the CDI.

Thank you more folks need to post if they fixed their problems ,and what they did to fix it...this helps others in troubleshooting. Sometimes it is little things that can look like huge problems. :):eek::p:cool:

connectors so often overlooked. Good find.
on new to me xj's I go through my connectors when waiting for parts as well as doing the checks that cost me nothing but time.
ohm out ignition system, charging system and checking brush length, cleaning gas cap, cleaning ignition switch.
