Anyone else have the issue of the front fender starting to split at the front of the fender? Right now its a about one quarter inch in length. My only thought is to remove the fender and take it to an auto body shop and get it welded and painted.
None of the bike shops here will touch it and also is seems to me that the front wheel needs to come off to remove the fender. I also thought I might take the fender off and apply some hardened putty to the underside to stop the splitting from progressing further.

Unfortunately this is somewhat common. That little lip get full of crud and turns into an moisture trap.

I have used epoxy (JB Weld) - a little bit more structural than plain old plastic filler.

Option one is to clean up the mess, fill it and shape it. Bob's your uncle.

Option two is that the piece that is split off is kind of thin and flimsy and won't really stick to anything. In this case, I have cut off three or four centimeters of the loose flap and re-created the shape with epoxy.

Of course if you want it to look correct from underneath, you will need find a replacement.

The only thing I would add to that is to drill a very small hole at the end of the crack to keep it from getting longer before doing the patch up job .
