82 to 86 maxim 650

    I have two '82 maxims and I have the opportunity to perhaps pick up an '86 real cheap that needs a starter. (supposedly) Are the 82s and the 86 basically the same bike??? They are all 650s.

    In the USA the 650 was discontinued in '83. They came out with the maxim 700 and maxim x 700 in '85 but I dont believe they still had them in '86.
