So my neutral switch seems to be bad. If I ground my wire, my light stays on (which is what made me investigate in the first place, the light was always on... A PO had just grounded the wire.) I tried a continuity test from the neutral switch screw post to ground, and I got nothing. I removed the cover/switch and did a continuity test from the internal post and it was fine.

So, I assume the post is just worn down too much and it's no longer making contact. Is there a repair for this you've done? Or do I just need to buy a new switch?

    Thanks!

You are talking about the little device behind the front sprocket cover that's held on with three screws?

You might try flushing it out real good with contact cleaner. It's possible the wear is not on the tip of the plunger but on the internal "contacts" so that it only doesn't work in its "service" position.

Or just buy a new switch. Probably the cheapest electrical part on the bike other than bulbs and fuses.

I don't understand what this means in relation to the internals of my switch... Isn't it just a rotating post that makes the connection with the connecting screw when it's in neutral?

It was pretty clean when I opened it up. I'll probably just get a new one.

Suppose you could test your theory with a blob of solder on top of the post?
