I'm new to the XJ scene and hope someone can help.

The Haynes manual is not entirely clear to me regarding how to set the swing arm bearing preload. In particular, it seems that you need to thread in the left-hand 27mm bolt untill it can go in no further, then tigten it to spec, then secure it with the locking tab and then do your preloading on the right side. So...

    Am I missing anything?

    1. Tighten the left-side 27mm bolt & secure it w/the lock tab
    2. On right side, use allen tool, set preload per specs
    3. On right side, tighten 27mm locknut to specs

    Thanks, guys

that is the correct sequence, however the book is confusing on the torque settings, it says set the adjuster (allen key) to 3.6 lbf ft, then it says set the adjuster to 43-52 ibf ft, then locknut to 72 lbf ft, perhaps someone will clarify.
