I will get some pics this weekend of the bars on the bike. here is what they look like old and new. I still have to put the tank back on. I am also changing the appearance of the motor a little gonna polish up a set of max x crank covers and a 650 clutch cover that has yamaha embedded in the outer cover. I am not that crazy about the stock crank covers the yics emblem is red and there is nothing red on the bike kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.

Snapped a few pix. Spent 6 hours sanding and buffing the 1/8 inch deep machine marks out of the x cover. Still have to polish it with purple polish and paint the pizza slices but it will be ready then. Was lucky len had my old max x cover i did over 5 years ago. I did it by hand and only used purple metal polish on it. It is a bit dirty now but still shines like a new penny you can see it in the pics with yesterdays parts. tried buffing a few spots on the new clutch cover gonna look good will take the clutch 006.JPG 008.JPG 011.JPG cover apart and get everything buffed today hopefully.

That looks good! Jealous! Now I've gotta add new X covers to my "to do"list. Does anybody know if they'll fit a 750 Seca? How about the 650 clutch cover? Searched the XJ4ever catalogue, but couldn't find listings for either. The X covers seem hard to find on thE Bay too!

They fit same motor as my maxim. Won't be cheap to do max x takes special bolts for the crank covers chacal supplied everything i needed. Do not buy the factory type bolts they are 82.00 he has some cheaper about 3 bucks each max x takes a special crank cover gasket 23.00 i think . The clutch cover gsk and grommets for the outer cover are about 30 bucks. Polishing the max x crank covers is not a fun job if your planning on doing that. The machine marks are about 1/8 in deep very time consuming to sand them out. They look like this before you start. You can see it better in the pic painted black.

Yeah... Maybe I'll just admire yours. Too much work for appearance, when there's soooo much to do on mechanical/rideability/safety. I didn't realize about the deep grooves. I gotta keep it simple for now.

I probably would not have done mine but it is finished far as i can tell. It looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor before i started wanted it to stand out a bit more.

All the work has paid off! She looks brand new!! At first I thought the brownish reflection (photographer?) on the front fender was rust! Guess I'm not used to shiny surfaces... my bike doesn't have any.:(

it looks a lot better than my 750, except for the discolored head pipes. is your bike running lean? the head pipes are double wall and should not discolor like that.

Wow this thing is clean. I have all aluminum covers and what not. Can I get them to look like this? Is it bad to buff the top layer down??

No rust anywhere. The bike is in the back of the garage the brown you see on the front fender is stuff on the counter top next to the bike the blue you see in the pics is the car cover 1325.jpg

Be careful if you take it outside into the sun. Don't look at it unless you have your welding mask on......otherwise you can do permanent damage to your eyes.
