83 motor to an 82 bike

    Hey I have an 82 xj 650 and I'm in need of a new motor I found on I want but its an 83 motor I'm just wondering if its gonna work in my frame and with my harness thanx guys

    As long as they're both Maxims, the '82 and '83 650s were mechanically the same; it should swap with no issues. The '80 ~ '81 bikes were pre-YICS, the '82 ~ '83s had YICS motors. (As long as you're talking 650 Maxims.)
