Saw this 84 midnight maxim 750 asking price 650 bet could be had for 400 11k miles he says it need brakes and battery. From what i see needs paint side covers but for the price not bad. I thought about it but already have a maxim x. Next bike will be litre or bigger in my stable. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/eat/mcy/3896058857.html

It's actually a 1983. That's the only year they made the 750 midnight maxim. Those side covers are hard to find in decent shape and are pricey when you do find them. It's also missing the grab handle and for some reason the seat is on backwards in the bottom pics. I'd like to have the exhaust that's on it since I can't find an all black 4 into 2 anywhere for mine. Not a bad start for someone looking for a project

That is the way i look at it a good project for the price. Could probably be a nice bike for under a grand. If you were not in any hurry side covers would turn up. Who knows he possibility has the grab bar and side covers also. I had a 82 maxim 750 loved it Traded it in on a seca 900 guess i am showing my age lol

Actually, The Midnight Maxim was avavilable in canada as an 84 model, but I seriously doubt that this is a canadian bike.

Pricey is an understatement. Almost cheaper to have a set of stanard 750 maxim covers plated.

The grab bar rails shown in the pics are wrong, The midnight should have the gold plated rails, The rear grab handle is the same as the standard 750 Maxim.

The exhaust is worth the asking price alone.

Yep, I am recovering from the been there, done that disease.

Wasn't aware of the 84 Canadian model. Is it identical to the US 83 model? I couldn't tell at first by the pics on my phone that the grab rails weren't the original gold ones, but now that I looked closer I see it. Not too hard to find them on eBay tho. If I was closer I'd definitely make an offer just to have the exhaust and some spare parts.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but would not the Canadian model have the kph listed more prominently than the mph on the speedo (i.e. reversed from what that speedo shows.)
    I think it's a US model offered in 1983.
If anyone's interested in it and if the owner insists it is a 1984, I would definitely like to see the title before making an offer.

Year titled/originally sold apparently got jumbled up a bit back in the 80s in some states/dealerships. So you'd have to check the serial number and the experts here :)

If someone bought this, I'm going to have parts available very soon. This weekend I'm completely stripping my 750 mm parts bike and will have plenty of spare parts to sell. I have the missing grab rail and I have some side covers that aren't pretty but they are original. Also have a speedo-tach assembly with a like-new cover and a like-new midnight maxim emblem on it. Low miles on the speedo, too... ~5K miles!
