Ok so I'll admit it.... I took a dremel to a mixture screw thread body on my maxim x .... The screw head was so concave and destroyed( thanks po) that anything that I had done literally had no effect. three broken ez outs and a considerable amount of solder and superglue later, I had little to do but attempt to cut tue screw out... Then, the pice I had cut broke off ( I had cut across the hole), so I officially have one half of the threaded portion of the mixture screw hole. So my plan is, rebuild with jb weld.... My only problem is, I need a Bolt to fill the whole hat I can smear with silicone lube, thread in, and build onto with jb... So my question to the masses, what size and thread length is the mixture screw? I haven't been able to find anything at home depot or lowes that remotely has the same threads.... Also, if my plans fail, does anyone have a spare carb body for a maxim x? It's he number one carb...
    Thank you,
    Rich

Or you could just buy a carb body that's still in tact and actually get it sealed along with the ability to adjust it at some future date.
Drop me a PM if interested with what number carb? I think I've sold (3) of #3 so might not have that one.
Sitting on the bike, left side is #1

You can give that JB Weld a shot.
    You're looking at 50 / 50.

You'll have better luck with that JB Weld repair job if you attempt to re-thread the whole port.

Smear a 5.5mm Drill SHANK with Synthetic Grease.
Add a single layer of Teflon Thread Sealing Tape.
(Wrap the tape so it does not unravel when you twist the bit clockwise.)

Fit the SHANK into the Hole.
    Mix the JB
Coat the Bit with JB and rotate the Bit to spread the JB all around the Bit.
Get the Hole made using just enough to Center the Bit and "Bridge" the Gap.
Worry about it being pretty, ... later.

Once you have the Drill Bit covered, centered and gap bridged, ... quit.
    Let cure.
Fill-in the "Missing chunk" ... later.

Once you have the initial repair made and cured, ... fill-in the rest.
    Let cure.
    Don't rush it.

When its ready, ... remove the Drill.

    Tap the Hole.

6X0.5 ==>> Bottom Tap. Flat end.
    Grease the Tap.
    Cut New Threads.
Remove the Tap ... Spray clean with Carb Cleaner ... Dry ... Re-grease.
    Continue Tapping.

    Good Luck.
    Crap shoot.

    Done it once.
    Screwed it up several times.
