I have an '85 XJ700 Maxim X. It does not have carbs on it. I am wondering what others of the XJ series will fit this bike. All responses are greatly apprciated.

    Welcome to XJBikes.com, zixxerluv!

I would simply offer a recommendation to find a set of carbs specifically for the MaximX. They are Mikuni BS33, jetted for the X of course. Our XJ bikes are so finely tuned from the factory - especially our X - that changes in the combustion dynamics (like filters, pipes, and carbs) can be very hard to tune. If you are a serious wrencher and want the challenge, well, you don't need advice from a rookie like me - 33mm intakes and easy access to a variety of jets.

    Again, welcome.

i think patience is gonna be your plan, ive seen what you need on ebay in the past so check there and they will surface....i worry though that after you get carbs you might find out what else is wrong...unless they (carbs) were sent out for a spa treatment and just got misplaced. good luck.

Thank you all for your time. I will continue to look for the correct set, and will continue to check ebay and area salvage yards. For all you fishies out there, the original set was not with the bike. I bought this machine for $300 with the hopes of finding what it needed. And chilidog, I worry too. But I have no fear! Something will come along. Thanks again everyone! I welcome responses and guidance.
