    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on this wonderful board might know how to adjust the cam chain. This is my first four banger biker. I would like to how tight it needs to be and where is it located on the engine. Thanks

    Hi and welcome.

The cam chain adjuster on these bikes is automatic. It is positioned on the rear or the block in the middle (between no 2 and 3 cylinders) by the base of the block.

The Automatic Can Chain Tensioners will occsionaly need to be Manually adjusted.

Remove the Crankcase Cover and Manually Rotate the Crank through two (2) full normal engine revolutions ... coming to a slow stop.

Then, ~~> Quickly move the Crankshaft rotating the engine Backward!
Any slack in the chain will likely cause the Automatic function to take-up that slack and the Chain will have excess slack removed!

There are instances where PO's use parts off other engines. You should inspect the Chain Tensioner to be sure that it is indeed and Automatic Tensioner.

I there is a Bolt on the right hand side of the Tensioner body it is not Automatic and will have to be set Manually.
