Hello, I have a couple of fluid questions.
I have an 83 Maxim 750 that I am getting ready for the road this summer and I am almost ready, it is just time to change the fluids.

So the first question is about oil. I have my oil (Rotella T) and my filter will be here tomorrow. My question is, how much oil is the 750 supposed to hold?
I also would like to change the fluid in the rear end and I know to fill it till the hole, but what kind of fluid do I use in it?

Sorry for the noob questions, I just want to make sure I do not mess anything up.
    Thank you for your help.

Per yamaha manual my 650 takes
    motor oil: SAE 20W40 SE
gear oil: SAE 80 API Hypoid Gear Oil GL-4

Not sure if the 750 is different but it shouldn't be.

Sweet, thanks for the info. 8)
Would you happen to know how many quarts it takes to fill the engine?

    For all XJ750's...

just under 3 quarts (2.96) with filter change.

just over 2.5 quarts (2.64) without filter change.

With the bike on the center stand, fill the oil until the bubble above the oil in the sight glass just disappears.
