Both the controls on the left side are boogered up. The clutch lever bolt on the underside is stripped, and the two bolts that hold the turn signal switch housing, one is rounded out.

I can't get a vice grips on the bolt head (what there is left of it)

I'm outta ideas, anybody have a thought as to what I can do to get that rounded out bolt out? As for the stripped clutch mount bolt, I'm not sure what to do besides try to shop around to find a part off an old parts bike..

Do you have a Dremel tool?

If you do, simply put a fiber cut off wheel in the chuck and carefully cut yourself a nice slot in what is left of the bolt head and then use a slot screwdriver to turn the stripped bolt out.

You can also use a hacksaw blade to cut the slot, but you have to be extra careful not to scuff anything else on the bike. The cut off wheel works best.
It also heats up the bolt a bit as you cut in to it, which often helps loosen up a stuck tread.

    Good luck.

the head is unfortunately too far gone to even do that with the cutting wheel. looks like somebody just rounded the hell out of it...plus it's recessed into the control body, so it's very difficult to get a cutting wheel to it.

Can you drill a small starter hole in to the whats left of the bolt head?

Something like this will probably pull it out.

    got it

yeah i ended up drilling into it and then i just pounded the heck out of a flathead screwdriver until it bedded into the metal, and was able to get it out.

wonder if i could get the clutch lever bracket re threaded so i could re use it?

Don't see why not. Just need to be sure to get the right insert.
