I bought a shifter side cover gasket from Chacal, part #HCP18430. This gasket looks to have paper on the back of it that looks like some kind of adhesive backing.

Does this paper stay on or come off? Is there an adhesive layer on this gasket? I ask because the paper seems to not want to come off. At all. . . Don't wanna ruin the new gasket.

Not sure on your gasket , I usually put gaskets on with grease , this usually holds the gasket in place and if you have to pull item back off it usually will alow gasket to be reused .

I sent an email, he said the gasket should be used as-is. Nothing to remove.
