    That one should be easy. Lots to grab onto.

    I like to use heat. I use an oxyacetylene torch with a #3 tip and the smallest bluest flame I can get it to. That tiny flame will let you heat the boss the stud threads into without heating a lot of other stuff. Just keep the flame moving so you don't melt the aluminum.

    I suppose you could also use a propane torch. If you do you'll want to pull the tach cable off so you don't ruin it with all the extra heat from the big flame.

    Then,while hot, grab the stud with a stud extractor or locking pliers and unscrew it.

    If that's what I think it is it's probably a better choice than the oxyacetylene.

    And once you're done extracing it, then there's:

    b26) OEM exhaust port Exhaust Flange Nut STUD. This is the threaded stud that the "shouldered" nut (above) threads onto, and is threaded the cylinder head and holds the finned exhuast pipe collar to the head. These studs sometimes break off, and are a chore to remove. There are two studs used per exhaust port, 8 total on a bike.

    HCP2941 OEM Cylinder Head Exhaust Flange STUD, for all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models. Each.
    $ 1.50

    HCP2941SET2 OEM Cylinder Head Exhaust Flange STUD, for all XJ550/650/750/00 models. Set of 2.
    $ 2.95

    HCP2941SET8 OEM Cylinder Head Exhaust Flange STUD, for all XJ550/650/750/00 models. Set of 8.
    $ 10.95

    b9) OEM exhaust port Stud Flange NUT. This is the "shouldered" nut that threads onto the exhaust stud on the cylinder head and holds the finned exhuast pipe collar to the head...thus insuring a tight seal. I can't stress how great an idea it is to replace these whenever you remove your original flange nuts, for whatever reason. There are two nuts used per exhaust port, 8 total on a bike.

    HCP581 OEM Exhaust Stud Flange NUT, for all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models. Natural finish, some models may have used black-oxide coated flange nuts. Each.
    $ 2.00

    HCP581SET2 OEM Exhaust Stud Flange NUT, for all J550/650/700/750/900 models. Natural finish, some models may have used black-oxide coated flange nuts. Set of 2.
    $ 3.95

    HCP581SET8 OEM Exhaust Stud Flange NUT, for all J550/650/700/750/900 models. Natural finish, some models may have used black-oxide coated flange nuts. Set of 8.
    $ 12.95

    a9) OEM and Aftermarket Exhaust Port Ring Gasket....the thin "doughnut" ring gasket between the cylinder head and the exhaust header pipe. A common source of leaks. You ALWAYS replace these whenever you remove your exhaust header(s). Aftermarket reproductions fit and seal just like the originals.

    HCP583 OEM exhaust Port-to-Headpipe Ring Gasket, fits all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models, each:
    $ 4.25

    HCP583SET4 OEM exhaust Port-to-Headpipe Ring Gasket, fits all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models, set of 4:
    $ 16.00

    HCP1617 Aftermarket exhaust Port-to-Headpipe Ring Gasket, fits all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models, each:
    $ 2.50

    HCP1617SET4 Aftermarket exhaust Port-to-Headpipe Ring Gasket, fits all XJ550/650/700/750/900 models, set of 4:
    $ 8.50
