I ordered new clutch plates for my 82 XJ550 Maxim and I noted that the Barrett steel plates are not tabbed/don’t have an asymmetrical shape and I’m wondering why. They’re made specifically for my bike so I’m wondering why they don’t include the tabbed plates. Will this cause issues, or are they necessary?

Do the clutch disks look the same as your old disks? The reason I ask the steel plates should have tabs . Sounds like this may not be the correct part . Pictures would help .
