I have a stock appearing 4 to 2 megaphone design that is feeble at best right now. i was told that its not origional to the bike altho it looks to be close. its seedy, rusting chrome, dents, brackets that are made of wire, yes i said wire... so i purchased a MAC 4 to 1. super.

my question is... of those who have changed their exhaust, what are the gaskets made of? more importantly, will i need new ones for sure, or will the old ones be usable? if they will work at least for a while, that'd be fine... but if they are certain to crumble apart when i remove the current pipes, i'd like to have the new ones on hand so i can put it back together.

They're made of brass -- I've also got a MAC 4-into-1 and I've never changed mine and they don't appear to be leaking, so I'm not inclined to either.

You can get them pretty much anywhere - I even see them on Ebay pretty frequently

here's a close up picture of the exhaust gasket.
Looks like a copper outer shell, with some kind of fiber stuffing!
