So, i've finally gotten tired of my MegaPhone mufflers. I really liked them at first, but now with my cosmetic mods and stuff they just look off on my bike. Almost like they dont belong. So I bouth some 1 1/2 inch turnout exhaust tips to replace them. Small, and turned out under the passenger foot rest.
So this means I'm taking the mufflers off and there will be no baffles, just the collector box to collect sound really. So, not SUPER loud, but loud. It'll sound good i hope.
Now my question is (and I'm sure after a while with the colortune and plug chops and many orders of jets i could get it) has anyone done this before on a 700N? Just cut off your megaphones?? If so, what jet sizes ended up being the best?
I've got 107 as the main jets in all four carbs, 35.6s in 1 and 4, and 40s in 2 and 3. I'm thinking it'll lean her out and I'll want to go up a jet size at least one. Get 40s and 110s for all??
    Appreciate any answers!

Well,l when I get off work today off they come. I dont think the new tips will fit actually, but, oh well. Refund! Then I'll try again :)
Anyway, after I get em on I'll stick a colortune in her and see if she's lean on Idle. Then rev her up and see how she does at 4k cruising speed.

Ohhh buddy. Those mufflers are rusted on there good. Go Kroil! So, while I wait, bump up on the questions I posted.
And one more I thought of. Which are "larger" jet sizes. Are the 110s bigger than the 107s? Or does the bigger number mean a smaller jet size? Get what I mean?

I can't help your question but I never would have thought the carb rack could contain different jet sizes!!! is that normal (i don't have any different) or are you compensating for something weird?

No, I cant find the 35.6 pilot jet sizes. Chacal doesnt carry them. No one does. So i settle for the 40 size and compensate by tuning the mixtures down a bit. Its just the Pilot jets. Makes for a hard start in humid weather. But other than that i think its completely fine. Runs good!

Man! Those mufflers STILL wont come off!!! Holy crap! Been yankin em for an hour!

The middle two carbs usually have a bigger (pilot)jet, because they need more cooling from a rich mixture since 2&3 are the hottest cilinders .
It's not uncommon on air cooled bikes.

And bigger the number, bigger the jet.

Cool. Thanks for the info! Just clarifying.
So my plan didnt work out too well cause of the super rusted collector. I took the whole exhaust apart and Kroiled and PB Blastered and tugged and pulled and even manage to make a couple nice creases in the rusted metal of the thing.. sooo.. New exhuast 4 into 4 is developing in my head. Gonna be anopther home project. Should be pretty easy. Jetting is gonna need to be done definatly after this. Might wanna go up more than one size.
Be a while before I get the cash for it. I'd rather fix my forks currently

When I re-attached the exhaust I noticed something I've never checked before. When i put my hand UNDER both mufflers, in the same spot, there is a hole. I can feel exhaust pushing out. Is it normal on these Megaphone mufflers to have that hole?

Those are holes to let the condensation out.

Heard. Cool, thanks! They looked like clean cut holes so I was sure they had a purpose
