    Hi everyone,

I was planning to get one of the Acewell speedos but it turns out that they're not sold by Electrosport anymore. They referred me to Baja Designs. First, I'm pretty sure that the speedos used to be a lot cheaper from electrosport, and second it seems that Baja Designs only offers 1 configuration, and there are quite a number of different configurations available.

This is annoying. Does anyone know where else we can get these speedos?

I am aware that I can get a generic speedo from a number of different places. I would rather get a stock speedo than do that, because I'm trying to gradually make the bike look nicer, rather than ghettoer over time.

    Thoughts?

"ghettoer???" I wonder what Webster would say to that one...

What's wrong with the stocker? Is it "re-gut-able?"

I agree somewhat with pygmy_goat. I like the look of a smaller speedo you can mount lower on the forks or near the tank. Gives the bike a nice clean look as opposed to the giant computer with gauges sitting atop the handlebars. Not a fan of stock looking XJ's or other stock bikes anyway.

The stock one may very well be re-gut-able; I haven't cracked it open yet. The one that I have was actually from a junkyard. Worked fine for a while, then chewed itself apart. I probably could have saved it when it started making noise, but I was in the middle of a long road trip and I didn't want to/have anywhere to take it apart. So it chewed its guts apart.

Like I said, I'm thinking about rebuilding the thing, but also the mount that attaches it to the bike is also busted (I "fixed it" decently well, but it's not real pretty). And I figured while I was messing with it I would also take off the tach and the NES. The front of the Max looks great without all those huge pieces in the way.

Yeah, that's right--if the early 80s Secas have Ataris on the top of them, the 85/86 Max has an NES.
