Air filter duct?

    1985 XJ700N
    A schematic of the air box, filter, housing, etc shows a “duct” that apparently slips into the opening of the cap that goes on the air filter box. It looks like some sort of oblong tube that may screen out large stuff. There has never been one in my filter box. Anyone seen one? I think it is part #1AA-14437-00-00.

    All the airboxes have that part. My understanding is that it's meant to manage the airlow in the box to help take advantage of the intake pulses, and to help quiet the intake noise.
    I noticed a difference when I installed it, as mine was originally missing.

    K-moe is exactly correct, you really should have it installed, "hot-rodders" remove to "get more airflow", etc.
