Okay - so I'm told that the stator is supposed to come out with the cover when you remove the alternator cover, yes?

Well mine doesn't - never has, as far as I'm aware, and can guarantee it hasn't in the last ~16 years at least.

So today in the pleasant weather I tried to actually get the thing to come out.
    In short - ain't happening.

Someone got some insights or tricks they'd like to share to get this thing out without damaging it?

It shouldn't come out with the cover but once the cover is off it should slide out. It is probably gunked in place. I'd try some cleaner or maybe our new favorite Kroil.
