Hey there! Just a quick note to introduce myself....
I just re-obtained my old '83 XJ550 Maxim the other day. My dad bought it new in Virginia in '84 (I can still remember riding around on the back of it when I was 11 or 12.) I rode it from 1996-1999, then I bought a '78 BMW R80/7, which is still my workhorse bike.

My brother rode it from 1999-2000 before replacing it with a Triumph Sprint and selling it to some old college friends of mine. They just replaced it with a 2008 Triumph Bonneville and gave it back to me, so after nine years, it's back in my garage.

Now that it's been a starter bike for 4 people, I figure it's time to tear it apart, replace all the seals, clean it up, give it a re-spray and othe necessary TLC, and start tear-assing around town on it again. It doesn't have the range that the BMW has, but as you all know, when you wind 'em up, they move pretty well. (And they're still gorgeous.) Anyway, that's my story, and you'll be seeing me around here a bit from now on, since I imagine I'll have loads of questions when I get into this sucker....

Welcome Ethan. Whereabouts in Washington? There are a handful of us here in the northern Puget Sound region.

Burien/White Center area, just south of Seattle. I noticed on the other Seattle thread that a bunch of you guys were local. Hope to see you around sometime, now that we finally have some decent riding weather around here....

Holla! Steve here, new to the forum and to my 1980 Maxin 650. I just stole it from some dude for $300 bucks and I'm loving learning about this bike. Looking for others to ride with and learn with as she could also use some TLC though she's a runner.

I live in Alki, Soon to be Georgetown, and work in Kent, so I'm all over and not too far from you in Burien at any given time.

Working till 3 today for the holiday but eager to hook up for a ride soon!

Welcome, Steve. Moving to G-town? Woohoo! Lets see some pics of those bikes, you two. And post up when you're ready for a ride.

Yeah I'm pumped to be moving to G-Town it's a great area. Hope the offer on the house is accepted, keeping our fingers crossed for that. Here's some of my bike after her first wash. I should have took some when she was ugly and dirty when I bought her..

Wow, not bad for 300 bones! Please straighten the turn signals, that would drive me insane!!
There's a place in G-town that I read about in Sound Rider called Twinline Motorcycles. The guy builds custom cafe racers out of old metrics. Sounds like a fun place to drop by. You heard of it?
