Greetings everyone! I was real glad to run across this site since I just purchased a 1982 XJ750 on Ebay. The help and tips provided will be very helpful as I begin my journey on this new bike (new to me that is). It's been 22 years since I owned my last XJ and am having a blast on this one. Great to get back on two wheels again.

One quick question, since ethanol gasoline is new since I last rode, is it okay to use that instead of regular gas? I've heard folks say that ethanol is bad for older vehicles, but wanted to confirm.

    Thanks and happy riding!

Pure ethanol? If its over 10 to 15% it could cause problems with O rings and other seals. (So I've heard)

In Iowa we have 10% ethanol available. I think in Minnesota all gasoline sold is an ethanol mixture of about 10% if I'm not mistaken.

I assume that new gaskets and o-rings a probably made to be used with ethanol?
