Hello everybody, I am interested in lowering my '82 550. I dont want to spend a lot of money because I want to see how im going to like the lower stance before i spend a bunch of money. I found some on ebay but dont know how to insert a link, so uh....here ya go:

Have any of you seen these shocks before on any bike or had them on one of your bikes? I will probably run them for a month or more before I buy some nicer ones and wanted to get some opinions first. I tried searching the forum for them but nothing came up. Thanks

Pit bike shocks, China. I would steer clear.

to try out lowering your bike - go for it.

to leave them on permanantly - steer clear.

A 600-pound spring is hugely stiff also. I purchased a Chinese made dual-shock set with 200-lb springs and the ride is right even with my extra 'heft." two 600-pound springs would be like riding a rigid bike.

It has a 600lb. spring because it's for a MONOSHOCK application.

    Thanks for the advice.

Anybody got a decent idea for what I can do so I don't blow a bunch if money on something I might not want? Or does somebody have any 9.5-10" hocks they want to sell?

What sort of budget do you have? YSS and Hagon both have economy shocks that are a good value.

If all you want to do is try out a lower bike you can make struts out of DOM tubing. That will give you an idea of whether or not you like the stance. It's a temporary measure, so don't ride around a lot with the struts (owie, ow, ow, ow). Should cost about $30 to make if you have to buy the steel.

I found the YSS and Hagons on fleabay, the YSS are within my trial budget but they cost as much to ship as the shocks themselves! The Hagons though are definitely out of my pice range...anybody had any luck using the YSS shocks?

I got the shocks installed and rode to work today. They are definately stiff, which wont be great for long rides, but they have enough spring in them for day to day which is what i mainly use the bike for anyway. The handling feels pretty good, its a lot tighter in the turns. It definately sits way lower, 2.5 inches doesnt seem like a lot but as soon as i got them on and took it off the center stand i was surprised. All in all, I am happy with the decision as of now.
