Anyone have any experience with Seca IIs?

I didn't put this in the 'other' forum because they are still XJs even if we don't think of them much. I've recently been looking at some earlier sport bikes. I'm particularly interested in a mid '80s 500 Interceptor, but I see these Seca IIs go pretty cheap. How do they compare with our beloved older Seca's? Anyone, Anyone?

Can't help you much, except to say that I like these bikes too, and always am keeping my eyes open for them. Motor looks to be very similar, but it's chain drive rather than shaft drive.

I like the Interceptor's too, but from what I've seen, they tend to be a little overly complicated, especially when they start to have wiring problems. The Seca II's are nice and simple, much like our older XJ's.

I've worked on Seca II's and they seem fairly simple. I had the VF750F Interceptor and loved it. The carbs were a royal pain. I think I'd go with the Seca, unless your particularly tall, in which case the Interceptor has more leg room.

I had a Seca II for awhile. It was really fun bike and it was sad to it go. The only annoying thing I can say about it is it's coldblooded. It would take abut 10 minutes or more to warm up in the morning. And I would still have to warm it up for about 5 minutes when I left work. I heard you could rejet it and get the warm up time down but, I never got around to it.

I've seen an ad on craigslist for an 81 Secca II that has an oil leak problem (I suspect it would just need a new gasket/seals. It was going for $450 or so. if I had the money and time I would probably snag it and fit it. But alas, I am also having to fix my maxim at the moment.... stupid headlight.

KanesSon, that must have been an original Seca. I have three Secas and they're all from '82 and '83. The Seca IIs were from the early to mid 90's.

hmm, in his listing the guy says it's a seca II, but he could very well be mistaken. It looks like a regular seca, so thats probably what it is.

Still, it would be fun to get and fix up :(
