Read the listing carefully. It's sized to go over your existing pan and foam; installing it would amount to recovering your seat. It's not designed to go over the whole seat with the cover still on it, if that's what you thought.

I purchased a seat cover for an XJ550R SECA from this gentleman. Great price and received in a timely manner. Quality looks good, and I think he the original advert said something about him putting in slightly more padding in his covers than OEM. Unfortunately, I haven't tried installing it yet. So I cannot give you any more of positive review other than a great purchase experience and good looking quality. Will be awhile be fore I try to install.

Mike's a great guy, I actually sent him the covers from my 750 max and 550 Seca for him to use as templates.

Came back beautiful, and that picture on the listing is of the cover/seat on my actual bike as I took the picture for him.

The foam is a real nice addition, more comfy than stock for sure.

Great guy, great price, tell him Chris sent ya ;)

I did put one of those on my Maxim. I put it on over the existing, factory cover and it fit fairly well. It was a bit more work to get it positioned and stapled but it turned out fine.

To the folks who have actually installed one of these on a Maxim: was there any extra fabric along the edges to staple to? I am going to add an inch of height to my seat and cut the step between rider and passenger portions back an inch or two. My OEM knees need to be a little straighter for me to ride longer. Do you think it will accommodate my plan? Thanks

There was a good bit of vinyl to trim after installation. I don't remember if there was enough to add a full inch but as I said I installed mine over the original cover and still had extra material.

However, if you are going to change the profile of the seat you are going to have to have a cover made to match the new profile. I doubt that you'll be able to make this cover work on a different shaped seat.

BTW, have you run your foot rests and controls all the way forward? It doesn't look like much adjustment but the few inches make a huge difference. Of course this assumes that your model has adjustable mid controls.

I'd bet this seat would give you a better/wider riding platform if your current seat is in good condition (i.e., you were not going to recover it anyway).

If it boils-down to you getting the OEM Seat reupholstered; take advantage of the current economy.

Take a visit to a Hispanic or Portuguese neighborhood near you.

You'll likely find a Craftsman willing to do a Custom Seat for you.
