anyone hollow out the resonator portion of the exhaust?

    93 Maxim 750. Pulled off the rear portion of the exhausts, and looks like the center can be taken out (10mm bolt looks to hold it in). Mine is so rusted though, I can't tell if it's seized in there or was permanently mounted. Anyway, want to hollow it out and just leave the outer shell so it looks factory, but is much louder. Anyone tried this before?

    Nope... But I did have a set of custom mufflers made that consist of a straight through perforated pipe surrounded by stainless steel that makes my 900 loud but not too loud and still gives the engine a small amount of back pressure.

    By stainless steel, do you mean steel wool? I have seen people repack sporbike cans with stuff that looks like that.
