I live in Bethesda, and work in the DC area. I really need to repair the threads on a handlebar riser, that are M12 1.25 pitch. And the ebay seller didn't mention the thread damage. I just bought a tap and die set, but it doesn't have that size.

PM if you've got one, are in the area, and want to help me out. I can figure out a way to come to you. I just need to repair the threads quick.

You'd save me having to wait for one to get shipped, and the cost of getting a tool that costs as much as the part.

    Thanks!

I looked up the set I bought online and it doesn't have the 1.25 pitch. It has 1.5 and 1.75 in 12mm it said. I can double check tongiht and let you know.

I'll check my set too...a cheapie from Harbor Freight...yeah, I learned my lesson....but I'll check.

I usually try to use a filed down 3" section of a fine tooth hack saw blade section. Lay it on a flat metal serface, flatten out the teeth then chase the threads....

I'll PM you if I have it.

This wouldn't be such a problem if I had just ordered one when I got the part (like a month ago). I went ahead and ordered one, it just sucks to have to wait any longer, it's been a long month since I went down.

Thread file looks like a good option, and a good tool to have. I'll have to see if any stores in the area have one.
