You have to use a Dremel (or similar) to remove the plastic-welded retainer pieces on the inside. The glass is sandwiched into the cluster cover with a big soft foam "washer" and then the retainer thingie is pressed in behind it and glued/fused/plastic welded.

    (There is no easy way.)

This seal must get compromised with age as I have moisture appearing on the inside of the speedo glass recently, not that it really much matters I don't
look at the speedo, just far ahead.

You may also be talking apples and oranges.

Some of the bikes (like the 550s) have instrument clusters that come apart and provide easy access to the instruments; they're FAR from "hermetically sealed."

Others have "canned" instruments that require actual surgery to access the guts. I believe yours are "canned" whereas he is talking about a 550 which has a cluster that easily comes apart.
