OK I have searched the site and only found a couple references to this subject, so I am asking for info from guys who have done this recently.

    1. I have a handlebar mounted katana reservoir and do not have the goofy Seca 750 front brake reservoir anymore, nor need its sensor. Anyone that has done it recently, you can jumper the colored wire to a black and it kills the BRK warning?

    2. Also, is a good test for the Oil level sensor: to unplug the sensor, see if the warning goes off and then clean or R/R the sensor? I fear mine is actually toast when inspecting, but staring at it through the headers is sort of hard. I want to test it before pulling exhaust pipes for a bike that is topped up with fresh oil.

    Thanks! 8)

    2. No. Per Len's guide, http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=27543.html the sensor goes to zero ohms if you hold it upside down (float fully "up.") Which means it's fully conductive when "floating" (full) and goes to "open" when there isn't enough oil to float it.

If you unplug it and then JUMPER the leads to it, the light should go off.

If you put a meter on the sensor's leads, you should see zero resistance if it's floating as it should.

Absolutely. Some PO had done this on mine. Didn't even realize it until I was going through and cleaning connections in the headlight bucket and stumbled upon it.
