You guys are good, Thanks for the help. My $300 bike I got from a salvage yard, (city towed in as abandoned vehicle) Is all set and running with all the little querks worked out of it.

I had to rewire the fuse panel, fix the battery sensor wire, and just give it a good cleaning,

and to think the guy didn't want to pay the storage fee on the bike because it wouldn't stay running ha ha. All it was was bad connections in the fuse panel, ten buck worth of waterproof spade fuse holders and some shrink rap and it runs like a champ

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help

can't wait for it to warm up so I can put some miles on it, the odometer which works says 7960 miles. I took it around the block today, it was a beautiful 18 degrees out. it was cold but worth it.

What's with the cardboard? Is she leaking, or did you change the oil?

beautiful score, and 8000 miles? she's not even broke in yet!

I was cleaning some grime off with carb clean, had the cardbord there to save the floor. would be easier to pressure wash it but that will have to wait till spring. a little cold for that

You have just leaped to the front of the pack for Best Deal on Used Bike for 2007.

I doubt anybody will grab a Bike --> Not Officially Broken-In Yet <--for less than 5-Bills! Too bad all them years snuck-by 'cause you'd still be under Warranty!

You still spent $200.00 more than I did for BOTH my Seca-900 and 750 Max!

    Back-East they spell "Sleazy" ... M-A-S-S-E-Y

Nice score; brother. Welcome to the Country Club.

If you don't have "The Title" ... it's not your bike. It still legally belongs to who ever holds the true, clear Title.

You'll have to get the DMV to run the VIN and tell you the name and address of the last known title holder and contact them.

Without a clear Title you're way "Up the creek" until you work-out that little problem.
The former owner might "Play Nice" with you, for an inducement of some kind, ... usually, a big bundle of folding-money.

He may go the other way; too ... begrudge you and "Lose" the Title forcing you to try and recoup some money by selling-off parts.

    Good luck getting the paperwork.

Possession is 9/10th's of the Law.
    Clear Title on-paper; is irrevocable.

You could always use the more "persuasive" method to get your title. Do you like baseball?

    ;)

All kidding aside, if you can convince the original PO that it is a parts bike for one you already own (technically not really a lie) then it should be easy to get your paperwork in order. I had to do something similar for my scrap/ressurected RJ.

I get a clean title for the $300 price or I could have gotten it without a title for $200 well worth the $100 not to have to deal with the dmv.

The salvage yard that gets all the city abandonded vehicles is getting the title

What a score Gearhead! Good on you and bonus for taking the smart road getting the title! $100 is cheap compared to the headaches of dealing with chasing a title. Welcome to the fold!
