I just finished rebuilding my master cylinder. I'm gonna put it back on tomorrow. Does anyone have a good way to bench bleed the mc? Or actually the whole brake system. My mity vac broke, or I would just do it that way

Fix the mity vac, it will be easies and cleaner to do it that way.
You can bench bleed the MC. After mounting it with the hose disconnected and ready to go back on fill the MC and hold your finger over the hole. Pump away, your finget wii act like a check valve . It will pull fluid in the piston, pump a few times then put theh brake line on and bleed.

Beat me to it. I just unstuck the calipers and refilled mine today. Did the finger bleed on the master.

Got an oral syringe from the pharmacy (free) and used a piece of that clear tubing that came with my new battery.

Put the tube on the syringe, propped the barrel up on the fender mount, filled with fluid.

Worked my way down, opening each brake line union and bleeding that far. Once I had fluid, move to the next lower in the system.

Once I got to the calipers, opened the bleeder with the syringe rig attached, pump until no more air bubbles.

    Done and done. :)

If you use a "Fluid Seperator" you can apply enough "Vacuum" on the AIR LINE just sucking on the Air Line to the Separator to evacuate all the Air Bubbles in the System.

Use a long-enough section of Vinyl Hose and you can forgo the Fluid Separator.

Spend 35-40 Bucks and get a Mighty-Vac Pump.

I took the mity vac apart yesterday and put some new o rings on it. It seemed to work out ok.

I used the Bigfitz method with traditional bleeding followed by leaving it sit overnight with the brake level tied back. Bleed again the next day, again, tie the brake level back. Brakes will be completely bleed. The manual says the system can become unstable while bleeding so thats why mixing in gravity bleeding does remove all air. Other bleeding methods can still leave small amounts of air in the system.

If you have a One-way One-man Bleeder and hook it up right, submerged in a Jar of Brake Fluid, and Pup the Master Cylinder's pressure up while opening and closing the Bleeder Valve to release pumped-up pressure, ... you can remove ALL Air Bubbles in the system.

Ric, I just bought a one-way bleeder and thought that by attaching it to the opened bleeder valve I would no longer have to open and close the bleeder valve. (I actually got it to bleed the clutch on my 280Z but haven't used it yet.)

If the Master Cylinder is healthy, ... It should "PUMP".

The Old School Method is tried and true.

    Open Bleeder.
    Pull Brake Lever to Bar.
    Close Bleeder.
    Pump-up Hydraulic Pressure.
Pull Brake Lever ... Open Bleeder ... Pull Lever to Handlebar.
    Close Bleeder.
    :: Repeat ::
If the MC Fails to develop pressure, ... the MC should be rebuild with NEW Parts and Seals.
