I know ive seen mention of the front brakes having problems. Havent searched yet but figured id ask opinions on my personal experience.

I was riding my xj550 maxim today. The front brake locked up going around a corner and it naturally went straight to the ground. I got out from under it without too much problem. Got my ankle and left hand a little.. just sore.. nothing serious. Anyway.. what should I check out on this to find out exactly what I need to fix. This hurt enough that I want to make sure it dont happen again.. LOL. Also need to find a new front left turn signal.

You will have to clean out the master cylinder, flush out the lines and replace the old fluid, then bleed it. You might also want to clean the calipers if they are sticking but it's not necessary if they don't have a lot of rust & corrosion. As long as the fluid is clear you won't have any problems but when it gets dark and thick the return hole in the MC gets clogged and it won't release. Suzuki actually says the brake fluid for off road should be changed every few years and your's hasn't been changed in what, 25 years?

Yikes! Clear evidence of the necessity of a regular maintenance schedual! Flush and bleed at regular intervals. I do this once in a while (almost annually) when I'm feeling squirrely. Glad you didn't sustain greater damage. Keep the rubber down bro.
