I have an 81 seca 750. Up and running, but nothing flashy. Paints no longer shiny, engine not the cleanest, but was running very well this past Fall. Speedo and tripometer no longer work, but tach tells me a close mph. I have been looking at some BMW1100 - 2004. In some ways reminds me of the seca and hear many nice things about them. Would like to ride a newer bike some day. Money permitting, I am interested in the BMW. Antbody know much about BMW?

I have a friend who runs a K100 which is high miles - he bought it as a winter bike but has ridden it for over a year now. He thinks it's great. I think they are solid rather than exciting but it has ABS and does what he wants.

I do know, from seeing my friend, Potsy's, that they get up there in miles. He has over 80,000 on his and still starts, runs, rides, and pretty much everything else beautifully. Potsy said he'd never buy anything other than a bmw because 50,000 miles on it is still pretty low.
He won't let us ride it, of course (and believe me, I have asked) but he said, and he has been on many bikes, that there was no expense spared in its engineering from comfort to performance.

Pollock... I like that picture of yours. What is it from?

I was looking at the R1100RT. Seems like a sporty touring bike. I like that they run forever and the plus about the engineering. Seen lots on ebay, mostly in CA, FL or TX.

I have a 96 R1100gs and love it. Like Polock I also have a K100 but its in pieces in m garage awaiting a head job and refurb. I love the R1100 for long rides touring and handles the miles of dirt found out here on the plains. The are spendy to repair sometimes but if our militant about maintenance the are very reliable. Sometimes though, the technolog can bite you on the butt. My ABS went out last year and took 2 weeks to track down the problem and had NO brakes so it wasn't ridable. Ended up to be a speed sensor of some sort but was the first time my shop had seen that issue. There's another issue. If your Yamaha or Honda goes down many miles from home, you'll be able to find a dealer in nearly any town, not so with a BMW.
