I'm wanting to go with a bobber look and need a one piece rear fender. I can cut and modify it as need be but, what fenders if any already fit between my 80 xj 650's frame? And i also want to go with a solo seat . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I am working on a similar project so I can share what I know. Iopted for cutting down a wider fender for reasons too numerous to explain but there is a guy on ebay that will custom make any width fender you want, either blank or with a british rib. ROughly around $100 if I remember. I think the sellers name is custonfabrication but you should be able to find him just doing a search.

I had a springer seat but I just felt like it was pushing me up on to the tank the whole time. There are several others on here riding a springer so maybe they will pipe in. Other than that, feel free to keep asking questions. I've pushed thru a lot.

I used the stock fender relocated and I think it looks pretty good.

I was using a springer seat too, but my rear end was lowered 3 inches, and the seat didn't push me forward at all. I put my shocks back on, and took the springs off, though.

I replaced my fender a tail light with a boat trailer fender and an LED tail light. I had to make a small housing for the light and it turned out pretty good.

The photos aren't very clear, but you get the idea. I ended up cutting a good 10" off the fender to make it work for me, so there is plenty fender to work with if you want it to come all the way down in the back. I bought the fender at Northern Hydrolics for $26. >PD<
