Brake Backplate Bent

    I had a ooops this afternoon the brake backplate sliped out of my hand and hit the drive way making a dent on thr difr and causung it to out slightly out of round is this will it effect the opperation of the rear brakecan it be repaired

    The cam, the pivot and the hole are the main parts. If their ok it's safe. Now if groove doesn't fit just carefully spread it back. Careful though the aluminum likes to crack. 20 little bends is better than 10 bigger ones.

    Warm aluminum bends without cracking (depending on what alloy it is). A regular propane torch will get it hot enough to be bendable without the risk of getting the aluminum too hot.

    That's such a small bend, I'd work at it slowly and methodically with a large flathead screwdriver and pry it back out a little at a time, evenly across the whole thing.
