Could somebody tell me the diameter that my brake drum should be on a 82 xj750 maxim? I took the wheel off to find a shoe has delaminated, and I replaced the shoes, but I just want to be sure that the PO didn't drive it with the delaminated shoes, and mess up the wheel. I looked in the service manual, but couldnt find this information. The current measurement is 7.870" or 199.9mm
    Thanks

According to Haynes, the spec is 200mm or 7.87" so I think you're good there.

Clean the drum up by hand or with a Dremel, using Scotchbrite; then inspect it carefully for cracks. It's nothing more than an iron ring pressed into the cast wheel, and I have seen them cracked before.

No cracks, no serious scoring and you are good to go.

Thanks Fitz, the drum is in pretty good shape, I cleaned it up with brake cleaner, it just looked like there wasn't alot of thickness there. I guess that puts me right on the limit, so I will have to try to take it easy on the rear brakes

There ISN'T a lot of thickness there to begin with. That's not the "wear limit" that's just the specified dimension. I checked the factory 650 book as well, it's simply listed as "drum, inside dia." with no mention of it being a wear limit or anything. Like I said, you're fine.
